Major Indoor Soccer League Begins this Weekend

As the MLS dwindles to a close of their regular season and looks ahead to the playoffs, another American soccer league is bracing for kick-off, except this is for indoor soccer, a variant of the beautiful game.  The MISL was founded in 2008 and is gearing up for its 5th season of existence, as the indoor soccer season proves that the sport of soccer never truly ends in the world.

The MISL currently consists of 7 teams spread across the northeast section of the country, ranging from the Syracuse Silver Knights all the way south and west to the Wichita Wings, with a collection of teams everywhere in between.  With attendance figures increasing each and every year, the gaining popularity of the game is taking indoor soccer to new heights.

In each of the past two seasons, there has been a growing rivalry between the Baltimore Blast and the Milwaukee Wave, who have faced each other in the last two championship matches.  The Milwaukee wave has come out on top in both occasions, establishing themselves as the single dominating force in the young league.

However, the Baltimore Blast earned a championship in the inaugural MISL season and usually performs near the top of the sport.  This season sees a new team enter the fold with the Chicago Soul, who will be led by experienced midfielder, Matt Stewart, formerly of the Wave where he earned two championships.  It is always a tough road for new teams, but with veteran leadership this team has a chance to compete.

Professional indoor soccer is in many ways just as exciting as outdoor soccer.  With small fields at intimate arenas, the score-line often grows excitingly fast and provides fans with constant excitement, something often missing from traditional outdoor soccer.

Also, with the league so young and new, tickets for these matches are way cheaper than more established sports, especially those like basketball and football.  The league season runs through March and provides an excellent sporting display during the cold, winter months.

Another great thing about the development of the MISL is that it presents another opportunity for young players to aspire towards professional soccer.  Most pro soccer leagues are very competitive, leaving few open spots for players who dream of playing the game at a professional level.  But, with the development of a professional indoor soccer league, the opportunity of playing the game at a pro level has become a reality for many people involved in the league.

Be sure to watch the upcoming season of the MISL as it will surely be a feast of goals and fun for fans lucky enough to live near one of the 7 teams involved.

My U-12 team's parents decided to treat the kids to custom jerseys this fall. The parents then tasked me with finding them! I found Totally Soccer on the internet, and it could not have been a better experience. The sales representative guided me through the process of designing the jerseys, and he was extremely helpful and courteous. Even though we placed our order just a few weeks before our first game, the sales representative told me the jerseys would arrive in time for the first game. Sure enough, they arrived right on schedule. The jerseys are great, and the kids absolutely love them. I would highly recommend Totally Soccer to anyone looking for uniforms.
